What software do you use that shows up in your System Preferences?
This is a screen capture of the programs that I find useful that show up in my System Preferences. All of these are free unless noted.
Bootpicker – Allows me to choose what partion or OS to startup with automatically. Great if you have a dual boot system/use Boot Camp.
Flash Player – Still fun to play flash games on ocassion
Flip4Mac WMV – Useful to watch WMV videos on the Internet.
LockTight – Allows you to lock your mac like in windows by pressing a key combination. Faster than other ways to lock the mac screen.
Macaroni – Automatically does maintenance on your mac. Useful if you shut your mac off at night. You have to buy this program, and I have not. I would suggest this software for people who turn off their Macs at night.
Mouse Acceleration – This makes your mouse even faster than it is by default. If you have a large screen or just a fast user, this will make you more efficient.
NTFS for Mac OS X – I don’t really need this, but it is nice to have for diagnostic work if you don’t have a Windows machine handy.
Perian – I want to be able to watch all video formats I come across on the Internet. This allows me to do so. I still use VLC to watch DVD’s, but otherwise I rarely run across video I can’t watch.
