It happened to Simon. He tested it with the hardware diagnostic disk, and then zapped the pram and he said that fixed the problem. Something to try if this happens to you.

The user has 3rd party hardware. Apple does a great job building in support for common devices but it can’t get everything in there. I always try to upgrade without 3rd party hardware attached and then attach and check compatibility.
