Interesting problem. Resetting the SMC fixed the issue. “Yes! We have a winner!!!

Resetting the power management (SMC Reset) did the trick.

I tried resetting (we used to call it zapping) the PRAM, but I didn’t get the tones like the old PowerPC systems gave me (haven’t zapped the PRAM in years), it just restarted the system. This didn’t change anything, so I tried the SMC reset and only have one battery (lying on it’s side, not standing on end like it was).
