iPhone not charging?

Here are some steps to fix that.  From the Apple Discussion forums.  Thanks yemnorth! “I’ve been looking for solutions online and I have found heaps of suggestions.

Of course mostly people said change the USB cable, reinstall iTunes, charge from wall adapter or take it to apple… etc. But these weren’t helpful for me. So I kept looking. Here are some suggestions I found:

1) Quite a few people have said simply taking out your sim card and putting it back in did the trick for them.

2)Others said to “Turn on iTunes, plug in usb cable, now hold in top and home buttons till screen goes blank. Plug in cable to phone and pc, leave top button go, but keep finger on home button, iTunes will open phone now and then just follow prompts for recovery.”

3)A lot have said that by restarting your computer while your phone is plugged into the USB port should solve it.

NONE OF THESE WORKED FOR ME. But you may have better luck. If all the above fails for you like it did for me, I did the simplest suggestion I found and that was to

4) blow into the charger port.

It worked like a charm. I’m so relieved and yet kind of frustrated that it took me hours to just find all it needed was a little cleaning. I guess there was a build up of dust that was interfering with the charging.
