Haven't had the problems this gentlemen mentioned. However, the security issue is easily circumvented. Simply need to turn on that default admin account… or you can simply right click on the desired installer and click "run as administrator." Finally, User Access control is MUCH better in Windows 7 than it was in Vista. In Vista, you simply were able to set it on or off. With Windows 7 you can set different levels of access control. In my case, I've simply turned it off and enabled the default admin account. When I want to do something that would require high-level admin access, I simply login to the admin account.
Honestly, I'm not sure why so many folks are concerned about this. Most versions of Linux have been this way for years. It is much needed security feature that inhibits the average user, or hacker, from interfering with normal kernel-mode operations.
If he's losing Aero in Windows, it probably has to do with inadequate video hardware. Can't speak to the taskbar issue though I was annoyed that I had to create a custom "Quick Launch" bar.
