I have an iPhone and the area of Chicago that I live in currently has bad reception. Often when I would try to call from outside calls wouldn’t connect to dial out, or they would get dropped while I was talking. Also calls would be delayed and you would find yourself with a “Missed call from x”. This is despite the fact that I had updated my firmware, had a fully charge battery, didn’t jailbreak the phone, talked to the Apple store genius to make sure the phone was physically ok.
I called AT&T by using the 611 number, and explained how bad it had gotten to the customer service rep. She looked it up and said that the cell towers “Have been degraded since July.” She said she would note that the issue which she said was known about, would include that I was affected by it. I asked for a discount and got one. Roughly it was the maximum she said she could apply for all those months which turned out to be $40. Apparently she can’t count past months as part of the discount. Good luck getting your discount!
