Safari on Snow Leopard painfully slow to use in foreground.

Safari on Snow Leopard painfully slow to use in foreground. Do you find this to be a problem?  It sometimes is slow for me but the latest Firefox seems faster than Safari.  Right now Chrome on the PC seems to be the fastest browser that I have used.  What is your favorite browser and why?  Great article!
